The 3 of us are leaving for our family vacation to Bald Head Island, North Carolina this Friday! We have decided to drive through the night so (hopefully) Ellison will sleep most of the way. It will take around 10-11 hours but once we are there we have a whole week of relaxation! It will be just the 3 of us til Wednesday then slowly the rest of my family will pop in towards the end of the week. This will be Ellison's first trip to the beach and what a perfect age to do it! We think she is going to really enjoy herself!

Ellison turned 16 months old (almost a week ago). It feels like she has changed faster in the past 2 weeks than her whole life! The biggest change has been her vocabulary. She literally tries to repeat everything we say around her. She is starting to recognize what more words mean and it just melts my heart to hear her say things that make sense. Her first two word sentence she put together the other day was "mommy bubbles." Here is a little list of the words she says (and for the most part understands what they mean)...
- mommy and daddy
- moo (for cow)
- thank you
- please (this is my favorite)
- love you
- pee pee
- doo doo (thanks to daddy)
and there are many others that she repeats but doesn't know what they mean...
She is also identifying more of her body parts (head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, toes, hands, belly and knees). She climbs up the stairs and will scoot on her bottom to go down the stairs (instead of trying to take a giant leap of faith of the top stair). The other day we were at the mall play area and she climbed the stairs to the slide, sat down and scooted to the edge then went down the slide all by herself. I was absolutely amazed. She dances like a super star and can sort of run. Overall her rhythym, balance and coordination are really starting to show more. We love our baby girl!

This past weekend Miss Ellison took her first airplane ride to New Braunfels, TX! My college roommate, Allyson and her precious daughter (and husband) live there. Allyson and I have not seen each other in 5 years (last time was at her wedding). We both are happily marriend and have daughters that are 3 months apart in age. Allyson and I have already decided that Maci and Ellison will be best friends forever. We plan on doing annual family vacations in the summers. Maci and Ellison had so much fun together! It was a very busy weekend and Ellison is one worn out little girl. She was wonderful on the plane rides (she was a huge flirt and everyone sitting around us complimented on her great behavior and how beautiful she was). Included in all of these pictures are some proofs from a photo shoot Allyson set up for Maci and Ellison in matching watermelon outfits. They are adorable!

Ellison had a very fun weekend with lots of visitors! Friday morning her Godparents, Griffin and Diana stopped by to visit. Ellison enjoyed laying with Griffin and eating cheerios (see picture). Friday night, Connor's good friend Ryan came to visit. Unfortunately he missed seeing Ellison because she was in bed. On Saturday, we took Ellison to the park to play and then Ellison's Uncle Jeff came in town. The 2 of them got some good quality time together playing in the baby pool and blowing bubbles while Connor and I went to a movie and did some house work (we are redoing our kitchen counter tops). Then the three of us went to a friend's house for a 4th of July cookout, we spent the rest of the evening at home. On Sunday, Ellison went over to my parent's house for the morning to spend some time with my family while Connor and I did more work. Then last night we had some old neighbors over to our house for dinner. We some how managed to keep all 6 kids (age ranged from 15 months old to 8 years old) completely content and entertained inside our house (it was raining). We all had a blast! So far today, Ellison and I went to a friend's house for a play date and ate lunch with Connor. We are very excited about this weekend because Ellison and I will be traveling to Texas to visit one of my dear friends Allyson and her daughter Maci (she is 3 months older than Ellison)! Have a great Monday!
