What a wonderful weekend!

I changed the background of my blog in preparation for Ellison's 2nd Birthday coming up in just 3 weeks! I cannot believe she is almost 2 years old.

This past weekend was wonderful! The weather was gorgeous outside and we pretty much were busy all weekend long. On Friday we skipped gymnastics (since Ellison has been sick with Hand Foot Mouth disease...we wanted to be safe than sorry). Instead we went to the park and played with some friends. We ran some errands then went home and played outside! Ellison rode her pink coupe car around, colored on her picnic table and had a blast just running around, picking up leaves and sticks.

On Saturday we woke and had some guy friends come over to help Connor start setting up Ellison's big (and early) birthday present...her wooden play set! We have been waiting for a nice weekend to do this because we wanted to get it up before her actual birthday party so our families could see it! The guys worked on it for about 3 to 4 solid hours and got a lot done. While they worked on it, I took Ellison and her friend Annie to Barnes and Noble for story time and then to ChickFila to play and get lunch. After nap, we played some more outside and then had some friends over for dinner. It was a super fun day and night!

Ellison is in love with her pink rainboots. She puts them on every morning by herself and insists on wearing them while at home.

Connor working hard on Saturday...

Then on Sunday we woke up (Ellison woke up really early) and we had play time indoors. Then Ellison and I went shopping with my mom and grandmother so we could be out of the house while Connor worked hard to finish her playset. Well, we really ended up being gone almost all day. When we returned home this is what we found...

Daddy finished the play set! The only thing missing is one of the swings (which we decided we will put up a baby swing). As she and I pulled up in the driveway, Ellison laid eyes on her new playset, started waving her arms, kicking her legs saying "slide slide, swing swing Mommy!" She was SO excited and is in love with her new big toy :) The set all in all took about 7 hours to put together (4 hours with help then 3 more hours with just Connor doing it)

Ellison wants to say thank you to her daddy for doing such an amazing job!

Trying out the slide!

Climbing up the ladder!

Our week!

We have had a sick week :( Monday and Tuesday we were off from school because of a holiday and then a snow day. During that time Ellison started to get sick. She ended up with hand foot mouth disease. It truly was a very mild case (which we are thankful for) but it was not fun. She had sores in her mouth mainly and spiked a high temperature. The worse part is there is nothing a doctor can do (unless she got dehydrated from not wanting to eat or drink). You have to let it run its course. I think we are pretty much in the clear now. We spent the week just being indoors and playing inside. Connor's mom watched Ellison Wednesday so I could go to work and then my mom watched her Thursday...thanks you grandmother's for all your help!

Ellison on Valentine's Day!

We celebrated Valentine's Day together as a family of 3. Ellison got a few treats for Valentine's Day including a precious tutu skirt from her daddy, a Dora DVD from her Nan and Claude, a fun tent from her GJ and Poppy, dress up shoes/Dora book/princess wand from mommy. She loves all of her new goodies! Happy Valentine's Day everyone! XOXO

Lots of catching up!

What a week and what a weekend! First of all the pictures I posted are way out of order, I apologize! This past week Ellison and I had work/school but unexpectedly were out on Tuesday because of more snow. We celebrated Valentine's at school with parties on Wednesday and Thursday (Ellison's class also had PJ Day which was fun). On Friday we went to Ellison's gymnastics class then Friday afternoon our dear friends came in town from Knoxville to visit us! We were very excited to have them see our new house and just have a relaxing weekend. After they arrived, Ellison showed Owen all of her toys and fun things to do at the house. Ellison got her birthday present from them since we won't see them again til after her 2nd birthday (it is super cute!) then the guys went and picked up dinner from Royal Thai while us mommies stayed home and gave the little ones a bath. They had so much fun taking a bath together. We probably stayed in the tub for about 45 minutes. We got the kids to bed then the parents enjoyed a very yummy dinner, wine and relaxing time!
On Saturday we all woke up bright and early and headed to Puckett's in downtown Franklin for breakfast. It was SO yummy and the kids really did well. Afterwards, the guys went out for the morning to do some stuff and the mommies took the kiddos back to the house to get cleaned up and to let Owen take a little morning snooze. However, after Owen woke up things started to go downhill. He had a fever of 101 and was not a happy guy. After debating of what to do, Ellison and I left to run a couple errands and to pick up some lunch while my friend Jen stayed at home with Owen so he would sleep more. Luckily he did rest but once we returned his fever was back again. Long story short (too late for that I know :) His fever came and went off and on the rest of the day but once bedtime hit he was not having it. As soon as he would lay down he screamed. His temp got up to 103 and that is when our friends decided they needed to head home so they could get him to sleep for awhile in the car (he was exhausted) and so they could take him to their dr. tomorrow first thing.
Our original plan was for my mom to come watch the kids last night so the 4 parents could go out for a Valentine's Day dinner. We were sad it did not work out and that the visit was cut short but we will make up for it all next time we see them which will be April!
Today we slept in (thank you Ellison) and now Connor is making a yummy breakfast (croissant french toast with caramelized apples...YUM!). We don't have much planned for this Love Day! Ellison and I are out of school/work tomorrow for President's Day so we have a play date set up with some friends we have not seen in a long time!
Sorry for the long post, Happy Valentine's Day from the Ball Family!

I'm over it...

Ellison's friend, Connor (isn't he a cutie!)
We are so over this cold and wet weather...seriously we are done with it. There is only so much we can do to keep Ellison entertained while keeping ourselves sane! Last week Ellison and I only went to school/work for 1 day. On Thursday we had some friends over for dinner (it is a girl I work with and her son is a little older than Ellison). Her husband was out of town so they came to eat with us and the kids had so much fun playing. On Friday, Ellison and I went to her gymnastics class which was a blast of course. Then we went to visit with my grandparents, Nan and Claude. We headed home for lunch and a nap. Afterwards, the 3 of us headed to the mall so Ellison could play at the indoor play area and get some energy out. We picked up a pizza on the and spent the rest of the evening at home.

On Saturday, Ellison and I headed to my parents house to eat breakfast with my family because my brother was in town for the day! Afterwards, Bobo (that is what Ellison calls my brother/her is so cute), Ellison and I went to the mall and ran some errands. My brother was only in town for the day so our time was precious with him. Afterwards, we headed back home for a nap and pretty much spent the rest of the afternoon and evening indoors. I did go to a friend's house for dinner last night for some girl time.

This morning we slept in (7:30 is sleeping in for us :) got up and we have been playing most of the morning. We are getting ready to head to the grocery store and then settle in for the afternoon and evening to watch the Super Bowl. We have a full week of work/school BUT our great dear friends...The McNally Family...are coming to visit and stay with us this upcoming Valentine's Day weekend! We are very excited for them to come and see our new house, catch up and have the kids play. We hope everyone has had a great weekend!

Days of play...

So we have not had school yet this week because of the snow. We don't mind though because I get paid for snow days while I get to spend time playing with Ellison & friends, eating lunch with Connor, catching up around the house and run errands! Yesterday we went to toddler story time with friends at the library. Then we had a playdate with friends at Chick-fil-A (one just opened near where we live and they have a great indoor play area). We met up with daddy to eat lunch with his boss and his boss' wife. Ellison and I ran a few errands then headed home for a nap. After Ellison woke up we ran a couple more errands then settled in for the evening.

Today we woke up, got ready, picked up Ellison's friend Ava, headed to the mall to meet some of Ellison's other friends (Connor and Annie B.) to play at the mall indoor play area. Ellison LOVES to play there, it really is a lot of fun and perfect for her age. Afterwards, Connor met us to eat lunch again (we try to do this anytime Ellison and I don't have school during the week). After lunch we headed home for a nap.

I just got the call that schools will be 2 hours late tomorrow but for me that means no school at all. Since my preschool hours are 9:15-2:00, if the kids came 2 hours late it would be 11:15 which just is not worth it because that pretty much only covers lunch and nap. So our policy is if schools are 2 hours late we don't go at all.

So here is to one more day of play!

I wanted to show these...Connor made Ellison this sign to hang in her room. On one of her walls she has a collage of signs that have different sayings. They are so cute! Connor made this one because when I was pregnant with Ellison, he would read Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me too! Everytime he did Ellison would start moving around in my belly! I love the way it turned out!
