Updated pictures of the kids...(sorry for the overload :)

It has been a pretty good and not too eventful week for us. We had some fun play time with friends after school on Monday and Tuesday then Wednesday we were out of school because of snow. Today was busy with running errands and trying to get some things done because I am hosting a baby shower at our house tomorrow for a friend of mine. We had a very yummy dinner tonight with Connor's dad, Jen and Sarah at Macaroni Grill (yum!) we had a really nice time and the kids did great (thank you T-daddy and Jen!). I realized that I have not been great with taking pictures lately (I know that probably isn't true but compared to how many photos I usually take). I also feel like Elic is growing and changing SO quickly that I am not capturing enough of him. So here are some updated pictures...

Just lounging with daddy one evening before bedtime...

We had Ellison's friends, Hattie and Ella over to play one afternoon after school. These girls are SO cute and Ellison had a blast!

Our BIG purchase, Mommy's getaway and The Funundrum!

This week went by pretty fast! After having a week off because of snow we were back into the routine of things this week with work and school. Our week started off with an exciting BIG purchase...we bought a BRAND NEW 2010 Jeep Patriot! We have been going back and forth on what to do about purchasing a car (we have been spoiled with driving my parents Honda Odyssey for the past -almost- 2 years! Or ever since my poor Honda Accord finally gave out on us 2 summers ago)! Well the time finally came to where we needed to start thinking about and looking into purchasing our own car. It was SO nerve wrecking...should we buy used? new? a car? a van? how many seats? gas mileage? safety? how much of a down payment? how much for monthly payments? warranty? the list of questions and possibilities went on and on. So after some research, car "shopping" and financial reviewing...we welcomed the new addition to our family...

This is the new mommy mobile and I love it! :)

On Monday we had lots of errands that we ran during the day (school was out for the MLK holiday) then I dropped Ellison off with my mom (we learned car shopping is not ideal when dragging around a almost 3 year old). Elic and I picked up Connor at work then headed to check out some cars. After 4 hours of looking, test driving and negotiating...we made our decision and made the purchase :)

We had work/school Tuesday thru Thursday (as well as some play time with friends in the afternoons). Then on Friday we had a playdate at Jump Zone with Ellison's friend Lillian and her mommy. The girls had fun playing and then we all grabbed some lunch at Koi. On Friday evening we had some dear friends over for dinner...The Gore Family. We had a really fun time socializing and eating a yummy lasagna meal made by my sweet hubby :) The Gore's have 2 daughters (and a son on the way) so Ellison had a BLAST playing with Hattie and Ella.

Then Saturday morning my best friend, Nikki, and I (and Elic) packed up her car to head to Knoxville to see my other best friend, Jennifer. Nikki is a 31 (Thirty One) Consultant so Jennifer hosted a show for her. It was such a nice "mommy getaway" for both Nikki and myself. She and I talked NONSTOP the whole drive there and the whole drive back. That is about 6+ hours of talking. I think we could have gone another 6 easily :) It was so great to see my dear friend Jennifer and her family. The show was a success and we had some down time to just chill and catch up. Nikki and I spent the night and drove back home early this morning. As much as I loved getting away I really missed my sweet Ellison (and hubby too :)

So with me being in Knoxville that left daddy and Ellison with some good daddy/daughter bonding time. Well they had a very fun jam packed Saturday together. It started with her dance class, then they met Connor's buddy, Josh and his little boy Luke, at the Coffee Beanery for breakfast. Following breakfast, Connor ran home to change Ellison, then they went and picked up Aunt Sarah (Connor's sister) and the three of them spent the whole afternoon at "The Greatest Show on Earth!" (The Barnum and Bailey Circus) Ellison LOVED every minute of it! Her favorite parts were the baby elephant and mermaids. Thank you daddy and Aunt Sarah for taking Ellison to the circus! She LOVED it!

She LOVES her tattoo...she doesn't want to take a bath because she is afraid it will wash off!

House projects...

So I wanted to throw in this random post about our house. We have done a lot since we moved in almost 2 years ago but still have a TON to tackle. The most recent project we (I should really say by hubby) has done was retiling our kitchen. Our poor kitchen has had several makeovers. After 3 attempts we finally hit the jackpot with it! We LOVE how our kitchen has turned out. The only thing missing are a few things on the walls. Eventually as we replace appliances we will convert to all stainless steel...thank you to my hubby for doing a wonderful job, I LOVE it!

First kitche makeover...

We finally figured out what we wanted and we LOVE it! This is our new and improved kitchen :)

Love it!

The next pictures are the "eat in kitchen." We also have our computer and desk in this space which I personally really like having. We look up a lot of recipes online so it is convenient.

This was the space when we moved in...I LOVE the huge window we have!

This is what it looks like now. You can't see it because its behind the tiled part of the wall but we have our corner cupboard that we moved in from the dining room (which is now the official playroom :)

Speaking of our dinning room...

This room was pitiful when we moved in...first of all there was some nasty carpet AND the room closed off with actual doors. So we took the doors down and put down hardwood floors...

This is what we did when we thought we wanted it as a dining room...the hardwood floors made a HUGE difference!

Then after some serious thought we realized we really wanted a play space for the kids downstairs since that is where we spend a majority of our time. We also realized out of the almost 2 years we have lived in the house we have actually used the dining room maybe twice? So we converted our dining room into our official playroom and we LOVE it!

I love the is the perfect space and I enjoy displaying their artwork on the walls. It makes it feel so homey and kid friendly :)

I would like to paint it a fun color however down the road we play on finishing our garage into the master suite and then the master bedroom upstairs will become a playroom/rec room then this will become a dining room again. So we may hold off on painting it...

It is fun for Ellison having her kitchen right next to our kitchen. She LOVES to cook while her daddy cooks...

The next space is our family room...once again it was pretty pitiful!

This was the space when we moved in...

Standing at the back door looking down the hall into the kitchen

Looking into the room from the back door...

The first thing we did was replace the carpet with hardwood floors, then some paint and lastly new decor and pictures on the walls!

Looking into the room from the back door

Isn't it so much better? We still want to find something to hang above the couch and we want to put up some crown molding and replace the way outdated ceiling fan!

So that pretty much takes care of the main level rooms besides the foyer, laundry/pantry room and half bath.

Now moving upstairs to the bedrooms. The upstairs overall was in good shape except the poor master bath. I mean it is pathetic...I will even spare you photos until we get it redone (which is our next big house project). Here is Ellison's bedroom...

This is taken standing from her doorway...her closet is to the left.

The only thing we did to her room was give it a new coat of paint...even though her room is small, I love it because it is SO cozy and the perfect size for her and her needs!

Elic's room turned out perfect! All we had to do was paint. Before it was his room it was our guest room. It was big enough to keep a double bed in. So if we have friends or family staying with us then Elic can sleep in our room in a pak n play then when he is bigger he could sleep with Ellison in her room when we have guests. The other great thing is the double bed can just end up being Elic's big boy bed!
Standing from the doorway looking into his room...

We just want to get a few more things on the wall and change out the outdated ceiling fan!

We are still working on the kids bathroom, our bedroom and our bathroom. We are also wanting to either put new carpet in the whole upstairs or hardwoods. We have not decided (that will be WAY down the road).

Our bedroom is in need of a MAJOR makeover. We are talking paint, things to hang on the walls, window treatment, new matress and boxspring, brand new bedding and a new dresser.

As I mentioned too, the master bath is pitiful. First of all there is carpet in the bathroom which I just feel is not right. So that will be replaed with tile, we only have a tub (no shower) and the tub is about 100 years olds (or so it looks). So we want to discard the tub and replace it with either a new tub/shower combo or make it into a nice stand up double head shower! We plan on doing a lot of it ourselves with the help of some knowledgable friends. It is the net thing we are tackling.

The thing is we don't want to invest TOO much money into making it a glamorous master bath because as I mentioned earlier in this post, our big future plan is to finish off our garage to make a nice, main level master suite (including adding on a whole structure to it for a nice master bath).

So there you have it :) On top of all of that...the outdoors is a whole other story and post :) We LOVE our land and outdoor spaces. Connor has already done a TON of work but there is so much more planned for the future :) It is great outdoor space for entertaining friends and playing. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post! It is fun to see the changes we have made and to compare photos.

Hope everyone has a Happy Monday!
