Pasadena, California

This post is late...SORRY! Two weekends ago I had the pleasure of taking a 3 day getaway (without kiddos or my hubby) to go to Pasasdena, California! My uncles and their kids live there. During the time I was there, my whole family (minus Connor and the kids) were able to attend a black tie formal physician recognition honoring and recognizing my Uncle and his new position as Executive Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente.

The reception was held at the Grand California Hotel on the Disneyland Resort. It was
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

 The view from our suite!

We (the family) stayed at the hotel for the evening since the reception was there and it was about an hour away from Pasadena. Before the reception, we had time to hang by the pool for some sun and relaxation!
Grace and I getting some sun!
 The "kids" chillin...

 Fun times!

After some fun in the sun, we all got ready for the reception...we had a quick photo shoot before heading down to the party!

Me all dressed up...I have not worn a formal since college! Or well when I got married...

It is always a good time when my brother is around :)

Congratulations Uncle! You are such an amazing person and role model. I am SO proud of you and all of your accomplishments! I am so thankful I was able to share in such a special celebration honoring you :) I love you!

Guess what we started this week?!

Day 1 of swim lesson at Camp Nickajack!
Ellison walked dry and bravely in without any tears while mommy stayed behind! There was no where to secretly watch how she did. I was so nervous! She was gone for an hour and then she came walking back wet and proud :)
Here she is walking back with the other groups to where the parents were waiting for pick up!
Look at her all tough and proud :)
They said she did great! I asked Ellison what she thought about it all and she responded with "Mommy I had so much fun, I cried just a little bit because I didn't want to go under water. It was just a little bit scary. But I did it!" She also received the nickname of The Little Mermaid (every kid gets assigned a nickname that they are called the whole week).
Ellison's friend Lillian! Luckily they ended up being in the same group...they didn't want to be separated!

All in all the first day was a success. Today is day 4 and she is loving it! By tomorrow we expect and have been promised that she will be jumping in the water (with no floatation device) and swimming under water back to the ladder and stairs without any assistance. I will let you know how it goes!

Father's Day Recap :)

On Saturday night we headed to Columbia to have dinner with Granddaddy, Jen Mama, Aunt Sarah, Uncle Ben, Aunt Heather and Mama Doris to celebrate Father's Day! Dinner was YUM and we had a great visit...

 Sweet Bubby!
The kiddos with the dads :)

On Sunday, I got up with the kids while daddy got some extra zzzz's! We made him a yummy breakfast (Spice Apple French Toast Bake). When Connor came downstairs he had breakfast and coffee waiting for him as well as a sweet card Ellison made for him and a gift.

After we ate I packed up a picnic lunch, we loaded the kiddos and headed to Centennial Park to spend some time together for Father's Day! While we were there, a huge Art/Craft Fair was being held at the park so we were able to walk around there.

Trying to teach Ellison that she can't grab the ball while playing soccer and to only use her feet...gotta start practicing now since we signed her up to play in the Fall!

Elic is 7 months old!!

Well another month has flown by us! Elic turned 7 months old last week. Our little man is growing up too fast...although I love the stage he is in right now!
  • He is finally getting the hang of sleeping through the night! He goes to bed around 7 and has been sleeping til 6:30 or 7 in the morning without a peep! He does get up once between 330 and 4am about one night a week.
  • He wears a size 2 diaper and size 6 month clothing! I know he is smaller for his age but I know he is for sure growing!
  • Once again (I say it ALL the time) but he is the happiest little fella I have ever seen. Everywhere we go and everyone we meet they say "he is just SO happy!" He seriously only cries if he is starving (and I mean starving!) or has a tummy/gas problem.
  • He LOVES eating solids. He has tried pretty much every thing. He eat solids 3 times a day and devours it. He doesn't love drinking formula (he is getting better).
  • He rolls EVERYWHERE (back to belly, belly to back) the little man will start at one end of a room and end up on the other side in no time. I would say he is mobile because I can't leave him alone for more than a second or he either will roll off the bed (he lays on our bed while I get ready in the mornings) or he will roll his way under furniture (I thought I lost him the other day because he had rolled halfway under a couch or he will roll himself to an object that he doesn't need to get his hands on! We are in for it!
  • He is sort of showing signs that he may be a crawler. He pushes up like a champ and pulls his knees in (he actually does some crazy body movement and seems really well toned as far as his muscles go).
  • One thing he still isn't a fan of is sitting up! This drives us crazy...he is totally capable. He will sit up for moments here and there but ultimately he just could care less. He would rather fall over so he can lay and roll. We are working on it!
  • He falls more in love with Ellison every day. She gets him laughing, babbling and squealing with delight all the time!

Elic we love you SO much...you make us smile every time we lay eyes on you. You are the sweetest and most joyful little fella and we are so blessed that you are ours :)

Major catch up!

Goodness! A lot has happened in the past week. I have been out of town since last Friday and just got back yesterday afternoon :) So earlier last week we had our first swim of the summer :) Luckily our new neighbors have a swimming pool and we have become friends. We have been to their house about 3 or 4 times in just over a week to swim. Ellison got right into the water. Last year she was FEARLESS...jumping in without a floaty of any kind, trying to swim under water the girl was a fish. This year she loves swimming WITH her floaty but is totally not interested in going under water. She won't jump in the water unless we hold her hands. She has swim camp next and so I hope it will loosen her up a little more. From what I understand not 1 child has left this particular camp that Ellison is attending without being able to swim on their own. So we will see!

Ellison and her first swim of the summer!

I don't think they could look any more alike!

Last week Elic turned 7 months old! (I will be doing a 7 month posting for him tomorrow :)

I feel so bad because I hardly take any pictures of my little man. He is typically strapped into his car seat when we are out and about! And Ellison easily steals the show...
Elic is still not sitting independently for long amounts of time but we are working on it! I LOVE watching my kiddos play together...

One day last week we went to the pool with some friends. My brother was in town so he came with us which was nice because it was another set of eyes and hands to keep on 5 children (plus 2 babies) :) This was also Elic's first time in the water. He LOVED it. He just splashed away until we took him out. Ellison really enjoyed playing with her friends (Hattie, Ella, Drews and Kate). We can't wait for another pool play date!

So this past weekend I left my sweet hubby, Elic & Ellison and headed to Pasadena, California. I joined the rest of my family to attend a black tie reception honoring my Uncle into his new position as Executive Medical Director of Kaiser Permanente for all of Orange County!

I left Friday and came back yesterday afternoon. First of all thank you to my hubby for being so wonderful while I was gone. He was Mr. Mom and did a fantastic job! They stayed busy while I was gone, Ellison had her last dance class, they went to a birthday party, ate lunch with Granddaddy and Jen then our dear friends (The Ogle Family) had them over for dinner to their house Saturday night. Then Sunday, Connor took the kids to go swimming with Aunt Sarah and Danny. The kids had a slumber party with Sarah and Danny on Sunday night so Connor could study. The kids did AWESOME while I was gone. I missed them SO much and was so glad to get back to them.

I mentioned Connor had to study...for the last month he has been studying every night for his LARE (not sure what it stands for) it is his landscape architect licensing exam. He has already passed 3 of the 5 sections. He took the last 2 sections yesterday and today. Please keep him in your thoughts and hope for 2 passes so he can be done with it all! He totally deserves it!

Last night Ellison said she was studying for her test just like daddy (she was really just coloring :)

I will do a separate post about my trip to California. I am waiting for my mom to send me pictures from the weekend. All I can say is it was a wonderful and special time that I had with my family. I am SO blessed I was able to go and share in such wonderful celebrations with people I love most!
