Merry Christmas Eve!

For the first time in a very long time we had NO plans on Christmas Eve! We spent the entire day together and at home. Our sweet friends, Griffin and Diana (they are also the kids' Godparents) were in town so they came by to visit for a bit.

It was great seeing them. They brought gifts for the kiddos so Griffin and Ellison spent a good amount of time trying out her new legos. I never knew the girl would be into legos but she was hooked! It was wonderful seeing you guys and hopefully your next visit we can have some adult time!

We made treats for Santa with the kids...daddy wanted to participate this year so he and Ellison made good ole chocolate chip cookies then I made gingerbread cupcakes with both kids. It wasn't the treat I had planned on but the kids loved to decorate them so that is all that matters! Santa loves ALL treats :)

 I love them...
I always get a picture with my girl on Christmas Eve with our matching "Mommy" and "Ellison" aprons on making treats for Santa!

We did get out to attend our Christmas Eve service at church...we sort of have started our own tradition on Christmas Eve. We go to church then for the past 3 years we have picked up take-out at a local Asian Bistro. We drive around to look at Christmas lights then head home to eat and get ready for bed. I also started a tradition last year (I should say our Elf, Nomes, started the tradition :) When we get home from church and looking at light...Nomes has left 1 gift for both Elic and Ellison to open with a goodbye letter. Here is what he left...
The kids discovered Nomes and their gifts from him with his letter...

Brand new Christmas pajamas :) They loved them and Ellison would not stop saying thank you to Nomes and how much he will be missed!
We did the last ornament for the advent calendar! I am so glad I made one for them...
Getting excited! So after the calendar we set out our goodies for Santa next to the fireplace, we always read The Night Before Christmas and Polar Express. Then tucks the kiddos in bed...

Then Santa gets busy and started to construct and create...
This year Elic's big gift...a train table. The kid is obsessed with trains. We found an amazing deal for the table and a buddy of Connor's sent us ALL their trains and tracks. We just had to fill in some tracks and bought a few accessory stations.
Ellison's big theme this year was Calico Critters...when I was growing up it was very similar to "Maple Town." It is a town of animals with houses, shops, furniture, families, etc. So we got her collection started with the house and a family. Then several members amongst our families bought furniture sets, etc.
"Ho Ho" taking a break ;)
Love our tree...Merry Christmas Eve!
