Right around Valentine's Day I was eager for a little bit of change :) I needed a haircut! My hubs loves my hair short, I have mixed thoughts about my hair being short. However, I LOVE my hairdresser and he NEVER has disappointed me. So I walked in the Studio Gaven, excited to tell Jess that I wanted to go short and let him take it from there. Luckily he poured me a glass of vino to help my nerves :) The next thing...well you can see in the first picture below!

After that there was NO turning back...it took about 2 hours to cut. Everyone in the salon kept watching, walking by, even some of the other hairdressers stopped to "observe" Jess and his work. I was so nervous but once he showed me the final product I seriously could not have loved it more. He did an amazing job! Everyone complimented him and myself. I just kept hearing "you totally pull it off" it looks so stylish and great for you. I was relieved :)

I got home and of course the first thing my truthful daughter says to me is "mommy you look silly!" As much as I wanted to burst into tears I didn't...gotta love their honesty. Connor loved it and was in shock that I went that short. Elic of course didn't care. He just kept saying "mommy's hair!"
At first I was scared to death to wash it or try to style it on my own. However now I am totally comfortable with it. I think I will be keeping it this short through the summer. It will be a hard cut to grow out whenever I decide to do that but for now I am loving my style :) Thank you Jess!

We had a fun Valentine's celebration! I did "14 days of Valentines" for Connor starting on February 1st. I was worried about coming up with things he would enjoy but once I brainstormed it was so much fun to do. I just left one thing each day for him (always in a different place and different time of day). I tried to take into account things he enjoyed like a favorite dessert, favorite candy (hot tamales), drink (vanilla coke), gift card to his favorite coffee or breakfast place, etc. I would leave a note with the item as well. Some notes were silly and some more sweet. Maybe it will become a Valentine's tradition :)

The kids had class parties at school so that meant we had boxes to make for the Valentine exchange, Valentine's to make and treats for the party!

I love doing stuff like this with and for my kiddos...I hope that when Ellison starts Kindergarten in the fall that I can volunteer to help with parties, etc.

On the morning of Valentine's Day, Connor did ask Ellison who her Valentine was (thinking she would immediately say him. Well he almost stopped dead in his tracks when her response was "first Cillian then you daddy..." Sweet Cillian is a boy in my class (which my class and Ellison's class combine many times, play outside together, etc.) He is PRECIOUS and I love his family! She picked a good one but Connor of course does not approve :)

They both always ask for each other during the day, Cillian made the sweetest little homemade birthday card for Ellison and gave it to her at school in front of all their little friends. We have been to Cillian's house a couple of times. He picks her flowers and shows off with his brother. It is hilarious and I think Ellison officially has her first crush :)

Anyways, the Valentine parties were super fun! Lots of treats, hugs and sugar! Here are a couple of pictures of Ellison with her friends. Love these sweet girls...

And let's not forget about my little Valentine...the cutest little boy on the planet in my opinion :) I am a lucky girl, he is all mine!

And my two sillies wishing everyone a Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Dancing Queen

Back at the end of January, Ellison started back up with her dance classes. We absolutely love taking dance at the Rec Center. It is SO cheap and she has learned more there than she did other places that cost double the amount. This semester we are doing ballet AND tap :) Tap was always my favorite growing up so I am excited to see what she thinks about it. They have parent demonstrations every month and her recital will be in May. She will have 2 performances this time :) She loves dance and has a few sweet friends in her class this time as well. We will get her signed up for the summer camp and continue on through the school year!
My sweet ballerina...
Showing some moves...(I sadly have forgotten all of the terms but Ellison can tell you the correct name for all of them!)
Love her...

We have had CRAZY weather around here during this winter season. There were several days in January that were so pleasant we took the kiddos to Pinkerton to play after church.

This little man is ALL boy!

We took a walk on a trail and came across this...we thought it was a cute photo op :)

It is finally getting a little easier to take a picture of them together. Elic likes to "cheese" but I have to be ready because he won't stand still for long.

The rest of January...

Besides snow, January brought about a few things that we had been missing. One thing was school, believe it or not we ALL love school. Ellison asked every day over Christmas break, "When will I go back to school and play with all of my friends :)" Elic didn't necessarily care but I knew getting back into a routine was something he needed. I missed my class, the routine and the sweet girls I work with. Don't get me wrong, I adored having several weeks off to spend my my kiddos and family. However when you know reality has to start back up you get to a point when you just wanna say, "Bring it on!"
Elic got right back into his routine...here is a sweet picture of him napping at school on his nap mat :) I am still amazed that he will lay still on such a small thing without getting up. I love him :)

My girl started to FINALLY wear a ponytail to school (we have waited almost 5 years for enough hair to do this without it looking crazy)! She was SO excited and she looks so big to me! She wears a ponytail at least every other day now :)

We also started back into dance :) Ellison loves her dance classes. This semester we are doing ballet AND tap. She was ecstatic to try out tap with tap shoes. We can't wait for her recital in May!

We have been taking care of one of Ellison's sweet friends, Ms. Abbie, after school on Tuesdays. Her mommy is in nursing school so we take Abbie with us every Tuesday afternoon to play. It is great for the kids and of course when they are happy and occupied, mama is very happy and productive!

The weather around here has been crazy up and down but the kids have enjoyed playing in Ellison's new jeep she got for Christmas (they have ridden in it whether sunshine, clouds, cold or rain!). Ellison has also enjoyed riding her bike more. I think for awhile she had a hard time fully reaching the pedals but now she has it down and YES we usually always wear a helmet so disregard the picture :)

My little man enjoys tagging a long and following his sissy EVERYWHERE! He copies everything she does and say. Where she goes, he follows. Of course with their ages we mainly do play dates with Ellison's friends and Elic of course is with us. He still enjoys the play time (I think in this picture we are at Jump Zone!) He does a great job keeping up with the big kids and Ellison is wonderful at keeping an eye on him.

The other thing this little man of mine has started to do more of is using the big boy potty! We definitely have not pushing the pottying now have a attempted potty training him. That is a goal this summer. However after Christmas break he has used the potty at least once every two days and sometimes several days in a row. The other crazy thing is he almost insists on going #2 in the potty. He does not care so much about #1 but even this past week (we are in the middle of March now) he has gone #2 every night before bedtime in the potty. We will keep letting him go as he wants to and then I will nip it once school is out!

This is him with his potty treat :)

And we have a renewed Zoo membership...we love it as I have mentioned before!

SNOW much FUN!

Well we can say we got our snow for the year...it came, it was beautiful, it was fun and the best thing is it melted away quickly! I do love snow but once we get it I am good til the next year. We woke up to it on a Saturday morning back towards the end of January. Ellison was SO excited and Elic wasn't totally sure what to think. We never got a big enough snow to play in last year and the year before that he was literally 2 months old so we technically counted this snow being his first real experience.

Sissy and bubby ready for some sledding!
Daddy taking bubby down...
Here come the dynamic duo!
Love these three people!
My lil dino making some tracks in the snow!
Snow angels...
Daddy and daughter...
Mama jumped into a few photos...somehow I am usually left out :)
Having a cold moment...not snow much fun with the snow gets under your clothes!
Snow love birds :)

I love the view all around our house after it snows...its so peaceful, white and you feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere! Here is the view looking out from our side patio to the back of the house.
This is a picture from our front porch looking out towards the main road...

Daddy pulling a load...

The kids would have sled ALL day. We are thankful for our next door neighbors who have a couple of hills we could borrow for some sledding fun :)
Ellison did manage to make a mini Frosty the Snowman!

Here is a little photo grid showing our SNOW MUCH FUN DAY!
